SF4NQ creates an opportunity to harness synergy across all stakeholders in the VET sector. It is through these effective working relationships and ground level conversations that we will ensure the Townsville region has a skilled workforce and continues to propser.  

SF4NQ is a strategy which seeks to build a skilled workforce through creating innovative partnerships between schools, industry and training. Industry leaders grasp that we must continue to train our school leavers to ensure we have a skilled future workforce.  

SF4NQ provides a unique opportunity for training providers to establish a profile within schoools and showcase career pathways. 

Paraprofessional and Trade Pathways

In 2012 we will be promoting not just the traditional trades but also many paraprofessional careers with Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma level qualifications. These opportunities exist in every industry sector; e.g. every Lawyer needs a Para-legal, administration and support staff. SF4NQ will be showcasing career pathways and jobs in Banking, Legal, Accounting, Dental, Real Estate and Agricultural sectors, the Arts, Health and Fitness and many more.

SF4NQ seeks to expand student's perceptions of what opportunities are available through vocational training...

We need to promote the concept of life-long learning and continuous pathways eg: how a student may enter an organisation as a school-based trainee and become just about anything they choose to be.

Engaging Schools

In 2011 schools from Ingham , The Burdekin, Charters Towers, Townsville, Palm Island, Mt Isa, Cloncurry, Hughenden, Proserpine, Collinsville and Bowen participated in the event. 100% of schools that participated in 2011 indicated they would do so in 2012.

Too often students who live in remote locations are not afforded the same opportunities as those in metropolitan areas so this is fabulous news.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT SF4NQ IS ABOUT. It is through these networks and ground level conversations that we will create synergies and achieve positive outcomes.
